New Study Shows Enzymes Couldn't Evolve

by Brian Thomas, M.S.

According to evolutionary theory, chemicals must have somehow organized themselves into cellular life, presumably long ago. And that means that enzymes must have formed themselves, too.

The title of a recent scientific report asserted that a particular enzyme evolved. The study results, however, clearly demonstrate that this enzyme was purposefully created.

Fish in the Flood

by John D. Morris, Ph.D.

A question many people have about the Flood is how did both freshwater and saltwater fish survive? Individual fish from most species will die if placed in a wrong environment. If such a flood took place, its waters would have been a mixture of salt water, fresh water, and brines spewing out from the “fountains of the great deep” Genesis 7:11. Fish obviously survived—but how?

To make matters worse for fish, the Flood certainly involved tectonically induced tsunamis (sometimes called tidal waves)—incredibly energetic shock waves in the ocean that traveled at great speeds and pummeled the land with towering walls of water. Fish are very sensitive to shock. Likewise, the Flood involved underwater mudflows, which even today are known to flow at up to 100 miles per hour, following an underwater earthquake or other disturbance. Wouldn’t the fish have choked in the sediment-filled water?

Feel a little out of control right now?
Could you use some encouragement?

From Israel, in the north region of the Galilee, singer and songwriter Shannon Wexelberg shares her personal story of a life-changing event. Her husband Mark was severely injured by a distracted driver. As a result, his job ended, they moved from their home, and they had to let go of some dreams.

Whatever your story or wherever you are in the journey, we invite you to join Shannon as she worships. Let the music from I Have a Song draw your heart to praise, on this Day of Discovery.

Dressing with Dignity

by Leslie Ludy

Dressing modestly (and fashionably) these days is an art form. Most of us aren’t willing to make the extra effort to overcome the challenges and dress with grace, mystique, and dignity. Add to that our desire to be found appealing to the opposite sex, and we end up with dismally low standards for the way we dress. We know that we’ll get more attention from guys in form-fitting tops, tight pants, and short skirts. And it’s all too tempting to rationalize immodesty because “at least this outfit isn’t as bad as a lot of things I could wear.” We think that as long as we aren’t going topless on the beach, we have an element of modesty. But what is God’s standard?

“I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly”

(1 Tim. 2:9 NASB)

The word modestly literally means “with shame and bashfulness.” In other words, not shamelessly flaunting our bodies, but exuding a sense of careful dignity and guardedness, even in the way we dress...

Resist the Devil
by Leslie Ludy

A young woman named Kelsie once told me, “I feel like I’m getting body-slammed by God and now I am beaten-down and covered with bruises.” Kelsie might have been getting body-slammed, but it wasn’t God’s doing. Look at what Scripture says God is:

He is my Portion (Psalm 73:26), my Maker, my Husband (Isaiah 54:5), my Well-beloved (Song of Solomon 1:13), my Savior (2 Peter 3:18), my Hope (1 Timothy 1:1), my Brother (Mark 3:35), my Helper (Hebrews 13:6), my Physician (Jeremiah 8:22), my Healer (Luke 9:11), my Refiner (Malachi 3:3), my Purifier (Malachi 3:3), my Lord, my Master (John 13:13), my Servant (Luke 12:37), my Example (John 13:15), my Teacher (John 3:2), my Shepherd (Psalm 23:1), my Keeper (John 17:12), my Feeder (Ezekiel 34:23), my Leader (Isaiah 40:11), my Restorer (Psalm 23:3), my Resting-place (Jeremiah 50:6), my Meat (John 6:55), my Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7), my Peace (Ephesians 2:14), my Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30), my Righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30), my Sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:30), my Redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30), and my All in All (Colossians 3:11).

Most of us don’t allow Him to be all of those things to us. In fact, many of us see Christ as the opposite of a gentle, loving, merciful Shepherd who is faithful to meet our every need.

Kelsie’s statement doesn’t seem to fit with what the Bible describes Jesus to be. Our King doesn’t show violence toward His children or leave them full of bruises. He is goodness and love personified. If we are being spiritually body-slammed, we can be assured that it is not coming from the Prince of Peace, but from the prince of darkness. All too often when the enemy attacks us with darkness and confusion, we assume that our Lord is causing or allowing it. But in reality we are attributing something to God that is completely contrary to His nature.

If anyone fiercely assails you it will not be from Me (Isaiah 54:15 NASB)

Christlikeness, The Goal of Discipleship
One day I looked at myself, at the self that Christ can see.
And I saw the person I am today, and the one I ought to be.
I saw how little I really pray, how little I really do.
I saw the influence of my life, how little of it was true.
I saw the bundle of faults and fears I ought to lay on the shelf.
I had given a little bit to God, but, I had never given myself.
I came back from seeing myself with the mind made up to be,
The sort of person that Christ can use...with a heart He longs to see.

Summary on Apologetic Method
Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen
Are you rich in knowledge because of your commitment to Christ
in scholarship, apologetics, and schooling, or have you been robbed
by the demands of neutrality?
  Colossians 2:3-10

The Immorality of Neutrality
Dr. Greg Bahnsen

All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are to be found in Christ; thus if one were to try and arrive at the truth apart from commitment to the epistemic authority of Jesus Christ he would be robbed through vain philosophy and deluded by crafty deceit Col. 2:3-8. Consequently, when the Christian approaches scholarship, apologetics, or schooling he must staunchly refuse to acquiesce to the mistaken demands of neutrality in his intellectual life; he must never consent to surrender his distinctive religious beliefs "for the time being," as though one might thereby arrive at genuine knowledge "impartially." The beginning of knowledge is the fear of the Lord Prov. 1:7.

Attempting to be neutral in one's intellectual endeavors (whether research, argumentation, reasoning, or teaching) is tantamount to striving to erase the antithesis between the Christian and the unbeliever. Christ "declared that the former was set apart from the latter by the truth of God's word John 17:17. Those who wish to gain dignity in the eyes of the world's intellectuals by wearing the badge of "neutrality" only do so at the expense of refusing to be set apart by God's truth. In the intellectual realm they are absorbed into the world so that no one could tell the difference between their thinking and assumptions and apostate thinking and assumptions. The line between believer and unbeliever is obscured. Such indiscrimination in one’s intellectual life not only precludes genuine knowledge Prov. 1:7 and guarantees vain delusion Col. 2:3-8, it is downright immoral.

Fool-Proof Apologetics
A Powerful Way to Defend the Christian Faith

It’s understandable that many Christians feel inadequate to respond to the lofty rhetoric of the academic elite. But this need not be so. The Bible gives every one of us, regardless of age or formal education, the basic tools we need to defend the faith. You don’t need an advanced degree in science or theology. Anyone can do it. We simply have to understand a few basic biblical principles.
Dr. Jason Lisle
